As part of our commitment to highlight and preserve local culture, we have committed to supporting French photographer Marius Moragues over the course of a dedicated 8-year project called “Beyond Java”. The aim of this project is to document, preserve and highlight Indonesia’s rich heritage for a global audience, as well as to serve as a record of the people of Indonesia themselves, all of which will be set forth in 8 comprehensive photo books covering all of Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku and Papua.

In 2018, Marius completed the first phase of the project, travelling more than 10,000 km by motorbike over the course of a 6-month photographic expedition through Java. The resulting book, “Beyond Java”, draws a first-hand portrait of his adopted country and pays a special tribute to Java with an exclusive selection of images drawn from more than 40,000 photographs he took during his time in Indonesia. The book is endorsed by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and will be featured in National Geographic.
